The mission of the Sam Rayburn House Museum is to increase local, regional and national awareness of Sam Rayburn’s life and career as a United States Congressman through the preservation and interpretation of the historic site. Site collections, outbuildings, historic vehicles and agricultural activities tell the story of Sam Rayburn and his family through exhibits, guided tours of the historic house museum and interpretive programming. Sam Rayburn House Museum strives to serve scholars, lifelong learners, school children and the residents of Fannin County.

The Sam Rayburn House Museum is a Texas Historical Commission (THC) property. The THC’s mission is to protect and preserve the state's historic and prehistoric resources for the use, enjoyment and economic benefit of present and future generations.
