My Mother Virginia Johnson Moore who is still living and almost 88 years of age, told me that as a young woman she had "Mr. Sam" ask her if he could lean on her shoulders as they walked down the steps of Windom High School. He said "Young Lady, do you mind if I hold onto you?" This occurred just after his final speech as serving the longest term as a house representative for the state of Texas. I am sure this must have happened before I was born but what a nice little part of her story to tell of that moment in history.
