We are looking for people who are willing to assist us in the very important job of preserving the history and home of Sam Rayburn. Volunteer Opportunities
- Collections Assistant – Updates accession files as necessary. Completes condition reports for artifacts. Assists curator with various projects.
- Special Events Volunteer – Assists with preparations for and activities at special events. This may include preparing announcements, assisting with tours, helping with refreshments, greeting visitors and assisting with a variety of other fun activities.
- Housekeeping Assistant – Assists clerk with cleaning duties in the historic house museum. Cleaning requires using standard conservation-appropriate methods.
- Tour Guide – Greets visitors and gives tours of the historic house.
- Tour Guide Assistant – Assists tour guides with large group tours. Because of the large number of people on various group tours, such as school tours, an extra person is needed to help the tour guide.
- Workshop Assistant – Assists groundskeeper with various maintenance duties, including gardening.
- Clerical Assistant – Organizes museum files as necessary. Inputs oral history records into computer. Other duties may include making copies, stuffing envelopes and more.
